Abstract
keep dreaming keep floating is an artworks born in a depression and stressed world. I wonder what kind of artwork that is needed by our society, and I decide to scale down the project into “myself”, I want to record my own feeling and emotion in this year to record the Hong Kong in recent few years. I organize many demos that I wrote in this year, rearrange into a professional CD quality audio, and scale down the crew size to shoot music videos for those songs.
Description
keep dreaming keep floating is an EP include 4 well recorded and mastered songs, those are my favorite songs I compose so far and these 4 songs can represent the situation of myself in this period the most. Most of these songs can tell my fear and perplexes about the future.
keep dreaming keep floating is a demo collection album include 14 songs with a well-ordered sequence. Besides the Intro, Interlude and the Outro, other songs were divided into Chapter “Love” and Chapter “Life”. Chapter Love use 5 songs to tell the process of crush, fall in love and back to oneself. The 6 songs in Chapter Life record my feeling and emotion about the society and Hong Kong in this year.
This artwork also represents in video as a medium, it includes 3 music videos, 3 lyrics videos and a short film with 2 parts. All music videos are all came from the songs in the ep “keep dreaming”. It is a mini-crew production due to the limited of shooting in the previous months. Although we have only a few actors and the crew member, the atmosphere that create through the video can match with the emotion of the songs. Listening to the song and watch the music video is a full experience of the artwork and it can tell the message to the audience more through both medium. All music videos are connected with a hidden story line, and different song represent different stage of the emotion went through. Therefore, please enjoy the music video and the songs with the preset sequence. Besides, all lyrics videos are all came from the songs in the demo album “keep floating”, by using drawing and experiment video with lyrics to create the artistic conception of the songs. Last but not least, the short film (part 1 and part 2) is a full version story of one of the music videos, it can let the audience easier to get into the story and the music.
keep dreaming keep floating is an artwork include different medium like audio and video, in order to build a large-scale story and an experience of knowing more about myself, this society, and also Hong Kong.
Artist Statement
2019-2020 is a tough year for me, also, for everyone living in Hong Kong, and even this world. Different projects and plans were being postponed and canceled, and “keep dreaming keep floating” is one of the artworks that born in such situation, born in a depression and stressed world. Due to the shooting of my short film (my original GT project) is canceled after two days of shooting, I must start a new project to finish the work. At that time, I wonder what kind of artwork that is needed by our society. However, I decide to scale down the project into “myself”, I want to record my own feeling and emotion in this year to record the Hong Kong in recent few years. Therefore, I use a lot of time to organize many demos that I write in this year, make a better recording quality. Also, I choose some of the demo I like the most and rearrange into a professional CD quality audio.
If I need to use a phase to conclude my situation in this year, I would say it is “keep dreaming, keep floating”. When you are keep floating under this mad world, following all the rules and laws to make yourself to become a normal people just like others, you also need to never give up dreaming. Maybe you cannot change anything of the society, you can still create your own music and video to embrace others heart softly, make the world a little more kindness and belief.
