Different from our “tradition” of SCM Annual is curated and organised by a new committee with new student members devoting to the tasks for their graduation exhibition with screening, performance and talk, this online exhibition is part of the submission and part of the selection with the aim of discovering our students’ creativity and multifarious aspects. 

Many students adapted the sudden changes and our new “networked-but-disconnected” reality in times of COVID-19 pandemic, finding ways to continue working. Graduation thesis/final year project presentation is only one of the many challenges. The number of exhibits and the conventional classification does not reflect the trend of this year. It is imperfect that we couldn’t show the original copy of works online including a bunch of wonderful photography works because of intellectual property protection. We haven’t included some works-in-progress and yet are without losing their integrity, as well as those are inseparable from the social turbulence and yet not willing to show their works online. Could the virtual gallery provoke open dialogues, turn the uncertainties into a platform full of learning, discovery and understanding? It is a crucial task for us to act on them.
