Revisiting Memories and Fulfill wishes, Interpretation of Game Design itself, Connections between three-worlds (Game World, Real World, Dream World)
重歸記憶來實現願望, 在遊戲中詮釋遊戲設計本身, 探尋三個世界間的聯結 (遊戲世界、現實世界和夢境世界)

Description

This artwork is a 3D Adventure or Art game, where player playing as Agent Harper from the future, enters the memories of a game designer called Jasmine through a project called Echo Mirror Project. Along with her partner Elena, Harper needs to explore and experience among three interconnected worlds (Game World, Real World and Dream World) of Jasmine, tries to find out her stories and helps her fulfil some wishes. One of the main wishes is to go along with the thoughts and creative process of Jasmine and helps her create a game. However, things won’t go smoothly, inspirations create more opportunity while energy cause unexpected problems.
This artwork for myself is also like a self-exploration journey that can help me observe and feel the inner and outer world of and around me from another perspective. Also, this is also an experiment of a different form of game in which the stories are about the game creation itself. It tries to use the form and style of 3D adventure or puzzle games, to read and understand the overall game design process and myself as a game designer, and then blend all these thinking into the game itself. For players, they can also participate and share something of their own thinking in the game creation process as well as then experiencing it by themselves.
這是一款3D冒險類或藝術類遊戲,玩家扮演未來特工Harper,通過一個名爲‘迴響鏡’的項目進入名爲Jasmine的遊戲設計師的記憶。Harper需要和她的夥伴Elena一起探索和體驗Jasmine的三個相互關聯的世界(遊戲世界、現實世界和夢境世界),試圖找到她的故事並幫助她實現一些願望。其中一個主要的願望就是跟隨Jasmine的想法和創造過程,幫助她設計和創造一個遊戲。然而,事情進展地並不順利,靈感充足會創造更多的機遇,而精力不足卻也會帶來許多意想不到的問題。
這個藝術作品於我自己而言,也像是一次自我探索的旅程,可以幫助我從另一個角度去觀察和感受我的內在和外在世界。同時,這也是一種不同遊戲形式的實驗,其中的故事是關於遊戲設計和創造本身的。它嘗試使用3D冒險或益智類遊戲的形式和風格,閱讀和理解整個遊戲設計過程以及作爲遊戲設計師的我自己,然後將這些想法融入到遊戲中。對於玩家來說,他們也可以把自己的想法投入和分享到遊戲創造的過程中,並在之後親自體驗。

Artist Statement

Real World, Game World and Dream world seem like three completely different and separated worlds, but they are also connected and parallel universe existing in our life. They influence and penetrate into each other, but it is still hard for us to think about and experience the Dream world and Game virtual world just like we are living within them. However, as game is increasingly becoming a very immersive medium, it gives us great possibilities to travel through completely imaginary world and build connections to it.
Therefore, LAI Qianqian (b. 1996, Shenzhen), who is working towards an MFA in Creative Media at the City University of Hong Kong, wants to design a game to discuss the relationships and connections between these three worlds and to tell a story about the interaction between the Game Designer and the Game Character she created. This artwork she is presenting, is a Game Prototype of a 3D adventure game. This game prototype contains the basic structure of the main game environments, narrative and game mechanics.
現實、遊戲和夢境世界是存在於我們生活中相互影響的平行宇宙,但我們卻很難像生活在其中一樣去感受不同世界之間的聯繫。然而隨着遊戲成爲沉浸感極強的媒介,它爲我們提供了體驗想象世界並與之建立感情聯結的巨大可能性。
因此,賴芊芊(1996年出生於廣東深圳)希望設計一個遊戲來討論這三個世界之間的聯繫,並講述一個遊戲設計師和她所創造的遊戲角色之間互動的故事。她展示的這個作品是她正在設計的一個3D冒險遊戲的遊戲原型,這個遊戲原型包含了一個主要的遊戲環境,遊戲故事和一些遊戲機制等。
