Abstract
Using decoration to construct a space that reflects my inner self – just like doing a self portrait but using a space. It conveys thoughts, feelings and visions by putting different elements together, showing the complexity and fragmentary of one’s mentality. The lighting and space define the mood; the objects leave imaginations for the viewers…
Artist Statement
My work is an aesthetically-decorated imaginary space that reflects and represents myself. Just like many animations, films and games, the rooms of the characters usually have their inner self projected on the design, stuff and style of their space. Thus, I want to present my inner self using a decorated space. A totally personal space. This originated from my thoughts of “wanting a place that makes me feel secure”, “creating a comfort zone” and “trying to share myself”. I want to create something that is tangible and straight-forward, allowing others to feel and encounter – a space that you can walk into and touch everything, which records my state and to disclose my inner self by walking into the space.
