Abstract

Survival proposition was somewhat contaminated with “sacrifice others” and “self-destruction”.
“生存”意志連帶著“犧牲他人”和“自我毀滅”的污染。

Description

This project provides a science fiction animation about a kind of humanoid creature MERMAID, showing a closed and mysterious environment-AQUARIUM in 2049, aiming to give the audience an opportunity to “watch themselves” and explore the future about human existence. Considering the relationship between humans and other species, the author took the end-of-life survival experience as an entry of the film, trying to show the “survival” proposition was somewhat contaminated with the meaning of “sacrifice others” and “self-destruction”.
該項目是關於一種類人生物人魚的科幻動畫，展示了在2049年一個封閉而神秘的環境-AQUARIUM，目的是使觀眾有機會“觀察自己”並探索人類生存的未來。 考慮到人類與其他物種之間的關系，作者將生命終結的生存經驗作為影片的開頭，試圖表明“生存”主張被“犧牲他人”和“自我救贖”的含義所污染。

Artist Statement

Wang Dan (b. 1996, Guangdong) is working towards an MFA in Creative Media at the City University of Hong Kong. She tends to construct virtual worlds in her works, and convey artistic ideas to the audience in an abstract manner.
王丹（1996年出生，廣東人）正在香港城市大學攻讀創意媒體碩士學位。 她傾向於在作品中構建虛擬世界，並以抽象的方式向觀眾傳達藝術思想。
