Four players are randomly assigned roles as the pigs and a wolf in disguise. The players will have to correctly identify the wolf before they all get eaten. Can you trust your friend? Or will he transform into the wolf and try to eat you once day turns to night?

Description

The Four Little Pigs is an asymmetrical multiplayer game for mobile devices, inspired by the classic children’s tale of The Three Little Pigs. It is a social four-player game where the players will have to correctly identify the wolf in disguise before they all get eaten.

When the game begins, the four players are each assigned roles. Three of the players are pigs while one player is the wolf in disguise. The pigs work together to build houses, survive, and ultimately escape. Meanwhile, the wolf aims to kill off the pigs.

Gameplay is split into two phases in a day and night cycle. During the day, the pigs will have to scavenge resources, construct shelter in the form of houses, and work together to repair a rocketship as their means of escape. At the same time, the wolf player tries to blend in with the other pigs to avoid suspicion while trying to sabotage their efforts. When day turns to night, the wolf sheds their disguise, transforming into a terrifying wolf to attack the pigs.

The moment to moment gameplay becomes a fun but frantic rush in collecting resources. There is an ever-present sense of looming paranoia as accusations are tossed left and right. The Four Little Pigs is a game of trickery and deception as the players try to cooperate and finger out the wolf in the disguise before they get eaten.

Artist Statement

We would like to design a game against the stressful society in Hong Kong. First, we would like the game to be convenient to play. We specifically design it in portrait mode, which allows the player to play it with one hand, even if they are on the MTR. To light up the game atmosphere, we design the game scene and the characters in a colourful and cute way. Also, we believe playing games with friends is one of the happiest moments. Thus, we emphasise a lot on the in-game communication system and social aspects such as implementing a chat room, building things together, voting and betraying each other. We hope this game can be a way to cope with the stressful society we are living in. With the use of the classic tale and concept, we hope to remind the audience that we can be happy, we can enjoy the “children-like happiness” if we want.
