Abstract

Through visiting the places where body has been discovered since June 15, 2019, the artist translates the death cases in Hong Kong from June 2019 to April 2020 into a thick grey book that looks like a nameless gravestone, to remind the deaths of an individual which should not be forgotten, but eventually and inevitably will be forgotten.

Artist Statement

We farewell, and attempt to never forget. Through images, text, objects, we mourn to try reaching those who passed away while in any form of medium, the qualitative lost of one’s is irreversible. One, as an individual, is fragmentized into various form of information. The fragmentation is paradoxical to the original intention of mourning – “remembering”, in another words, “choosing to remember something” is equal to “giving up the others.” I consider this is the largest brutality of death. How could we even “remember” one as an individual through mourning?

Death is an irresistable force of oblivion eventually.
